Che Guevara’s eldest daughter rejects military coup in Honduras during Oscar D’ Leon gig in London

Aleida Guevara, the eldest daughter of Ernesto Che Guevara, rejected last night in London the coup d’etat against Honduran President Manuel Zelaya.

Aleida, a Cuban paediatrician currently touring the UK, spoke briefly during the Oscar D’ Leon gig at the Barbican theatre in London.

Aleida strongly criticized the kidnapping of Honduran President Zelaya yesterday morning.

“I regret the tragic moments suffered by the people of Honduras this morning,” said Aleida.

“We demand justice for the people of Honduras,” added Aleida while the people at the Barbican went wild in support of her statement.

Immediately after Venezuelan salsa singer Oscar D’ Leon sang and danced for the rest of the evening his most famous songs, such as: Guantanamera, Ilidio de Amor, Lloraras and Calculadora.

During his performance, Oscar D’ Leon paid tribute to famous Cuban musicians, such as: Barbarito Diez, Beny More and Celia Cruz.

Oscar D’ Leon’s concert, as well as Pablo Milanes’s the night before, was organized by the Cuban Solidarity Campaign to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution.
