The European Union has condemned the military action in Honduras
The European Union on Sunday condemned the military action taking place in Honduras and asked that constitutional order be returned. "The European Union has condemned the coup and is asking that order be immediately returned," said Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Morantonis during an informal EU foreign ministers meeting.
Honduran troops have surrounded the presidential palace after soldiers detained leftist President Manuel Zelaya at his residence over his attempt to win re-election. The president fired the armed forces chief of staff last week for refusing to assist him organise an unofficial referendum allowing presidents to serve more than a single four-year term
