Venezuela booked in gold medal record in 2009 Bolivarian Sports Games

Caracas Nov 27 ABN.- At the close of the 16th Sucre 2009 Bolivarian Sports Games, carried out in Bolivia, Venezuela won the championship and recorded a historic triumph by obtaining 203 gold medals in different sports of the tournament.

The statement was made by Venezuela's Sports Minister Victoria Mata and she added that the team's performance and efficiency at the Games give evidence of the athletes' motivation, enthusiasm, energy and patriotism.

Moreover, competitions on the rifle shooting discipline were delayed because of technical problems in the facilities; however, it was agreed to carry out the contests next month of December.

“It means that the number of gold medals for Venezuela might vary and there will be more medals in fact,” she said.

Similarly, the Sports Minister stated that the Venezuelan Government has met and will continue meeting its commitment with the national athletes.
