Filven 2009 ends with a record of more than 140 thousand visits

On Sunday culminated the V International Book Fair Venezuela (Filven, for Spanish) 2009 with a successful record of more than 140 thousand visits carried out to the cultural spaces open in different states of the country, since last September 10.

The vice president of the National Book Center (CENAL, Spanish abbreviation), Michell Bonnefoy, explained that just the chapter Caracas was visited about more than 80 thousand readers, a figure that adds up to more than 60 thousand visits carried out in the rest of the country.

About the matter, Bonnefoy considered that most of the attendance and cultural rapprochement to reading was reached by the infantile pavilion, organized by the cultural mission Corazon Adentro, from the Ministry of People's Power for Culture.

According to him, the greatest feat of Filven 2009, besides the broad receptiveness, was to make more Venezuelan homes fall into the habit of reading.

“We bring more people closer to this huge universe that means to read (...) Aside from the books selling, most of the talks and analysis carried out within the Fair took were carried out so as to promote the habit of reading,” Bonnefoy stressed.

Thus, he expressed that Filven 2009 developed more than 400 cultural and ideological activities, which were carried out by means of talks, forums, conferences, encounters and debates among different alternative and independent publishing companies an nationals as internationals.
